On the failure of the nation of Austria to accept annexation, the Heilege Römisches Reich has declared war on said nation. As we speak, the nation is engaging 10,000 of her finest troops near the border, ready for an instantaneous order of blitzkrieg invasion.

Meantime, on the home front, propaganda is being spread, proclaiming the validation of this war, how it will help the HRR, and encouraging the people that this is their best option. Production in a few factories is shifting toward weapons, specifically infantry based weapons, with a few tanks and planes being produced.

Over the skies of Austria, F4F Eisenschwein fly over major towns and some smaller towns of the HRR AoE, dropping, not bombs, but special pods, designed to burst high in the air, spreading leaflets proclaiming the general badness of the Austrian government's stubbornness, proclaiming free passage, free of harm to any Austrian that surrenders to the HRR, explaining the reasons why joining the HRR would benefit both nations. Dropped along with the leaflets are parachute rigged loudspeakers, designed to land on roofs, and spread the same message the leaflets are proclaiming.

During an interview about the war with His Magesty, König Karl Franz Fredrick Stahlwelt, he was quoted to say, "I don't want any of my soldiers firing on fellow kinsmen. Though we've been seperated by a border for many years, and have developed many different traditions, we are still both Germanic, we are brothers, and all we want is for our brother to return home. We don't want to hurt Austrians, that is only a last resort option."

With the official denial of Annexation by the three nations of Europe which received ultimatums, the Italian Empire has declared war on Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland.

Military Generals and Commanders, though, have stated that this will be their first of many “Polite Wars”. The Emperor himself stated that Bombings on cities will be strictly forbidden, and fighter aircraft will be doing the bulk of the attacks on buildings such as factories to ensure that civilians not involved with those factories are not harmed. In addition, strict rules of the Italian Invading forces are being enforced, including the Looting of Civilian Possessions being strictly forbidden. Civilians are not to be fired upon(unless they fire upon Italian Soldiers), and the Italian Police Force’s Six Divisions are being sent along with Italian Troops to make sure that the Civilians of these three nations are protected and that soldiers follow their orders.

At the same time, Italian Troops and Vehicles have begun the Hopefully short invasion of the three nations. Reports already indicate that Liechtenstein is falling very quickly, with Italian troops pushing into the Very small country experiencing light to no resistance at all. The main source of conflict Italian Troops are experiencing in the small country is arguments between Italian Vehicle and tank drivers and the Police of small towns attempting to regulate traffic, these vehicles clogging up the low-width roads of the small country. Most arguments are quickly resolved, and reports even show that Italian Officers are paying these Police Men for their trouble.

Italian Planes are, in addition, dropping propaganda which is demoralizing many of the Troops of Liechtenstein bringing up the conspiracy that Austria forced the small, peaceful nation into a war which it did not want, and spies report that the Government Head, the Prince of Liechtenstein, the Good Prince Hans-Adam The Second, and the entire Parliament of the Nation of Liechtenstein, are beginning to converse with each-other about accepting the Ultimatum and seceding from the Three-Nation pact, and Joining the Italian Empire, laying down their arms, and raising the Italian Flag next to theirs.

In Switzerland, Fighting is relatively harder, but Civilians are still being treated with the upmost care to not disturb their daily lives with a war in which their government brought upon them in hopes to prolong the Italian Advance. Food and Water trucks are seen following behind Italian Convoys of Police whose orders are to maintain the Daily lives of the Swiss People which Fall under Italian rule as the Italian Front continues to press into the small, peaceful country, of which less than 20% of the Populous are for the war against Italy and her Government. Italian Tanks have been involved in fire-fights with Swiss Leopard II Tanks, but the simple fact that the Swiss Armed Forces numbers less than 200,000 Men at the moment, with fewer than two hundred tanks, and Italian Air Superiority, is pointing Switzerland to loose quickly. Propaganda is being dropped from planes normally used to drop heavy bombs, spreading Leaflets, not so different from the German Leaflets, that Italy can only bring good to Switzerland, Austria, and Liechtenstein, and that the Italian People and Italian Government never wanted war, and still have Open Arms to these Nations, and all the people.

In Austria, where the populous for the war is highest among the three nations, but still a low Thirty Percent, fighting is harder as the Italian Tanks and Infantry push through, taking village after village, but still holding on tight to their Beliefs of this to be a “Polite War”. The Italian Government has stated that the Ultimatum still stands, and that these three nations may accept it at any time, Pressuring the governments of Liechtenstein and Switzerland to avoid Destruction and Death, and to join Italy, as only good can come. The same message has been delivered to Austria, along with an additional message.

"The Germanic People are a Proud and Mighty People. You do not need to fight against Germany, your Brothers, and Italy, whom are also your brothers and have fought along side you before! You are a proud people who do not need to fight to prove that! The decision is now in your hands, not your governments hands! Peace, Or war! Lay down your arms and stop your ruthless government from bringing destruction to your beautiful lands! It is your decision now, Not the Elite who fight to keep hold of any power, no matter how fleeting it may be! Your lives will not be effected by annexation, Only theirs!"

This message has also been seen in Liechtenstein and Switzerland, but with some of the words changed.

The Italian army has made steady ground at first, gaining a few miles into the interior of the countries. However due to stubborn defenses and the terrain, the advance has come to a snail’s pace. Roads are either destroyed or heavily defended, stopping many attacks and attempts to push forwards. Going through the mountains is also proving difficult, with snipers and machine gun nests lurking at every corner, hunting for Italian soldiers. The Italian Tank Divisions have taken the worst, with their advance halted by terrain and anti-tank positions. As for the Italian air force, air superiority has mostly been achieved. However several aircraft have been shot down by anti-aircraft batteries. These positions have been hard to take, being hidden in the mountains and forests of the nations.

Propaganda efforts have so far been ineffective, with nationalism and patriotism high among the nations, wanting to keep their independence. A defense line is being built against Germany, however a message has been sent by Austria. The message states that if they truly cared for their “brothers” in the world they would help them with the war against Italy; however annexation is out of the question.

Overall the war is in Italy’s favor, however the invasions has been slowed and Austria and Switzerland are holding the line. Lichtenstein is almost entirely assimilated, however aggression has taken place. One bombing run on surprised Italian forces left many dead, and a terrorist of unknown origin is responsible for the assassination of an Italian officer.

The propaganda effort, though initially unsuccessful, is being continued with a heightened vigour, along with new propaganda, hopefully designed to better convince the Austrian public to allow themselves to be annexed. The idea of the 'Polite War', though in and of itself is an oxymoron, is favored by the Kaiser, and is now being implemented as the national policy for this conflict. Imperial soldiers have started pouring over the border into Northern Austria, spreading goodwill and supplies to civilians. A-10s attack known military factories and military airfields, while F-16s provide air superiority and carry out fighter and Wild Weasel missions. The Imperial Army offers asylum to all military personnel who surrender, as ordered from the Kaiser himself. Optimism is high in the Imperial Armed Forces that Austria will see the light and change their evil ways.
