Personality:
Karl Franz Fredrich Stahlwelt, Heileges, blah blah blah, is a fun loving soul who gets out and about on a regular basis. He is an avid hunter, and is generally seen with many from his court out and about in the various forests of Germany, hunting with his prized Mauser Gewehr 98, handed down from his great grand pappy, a sniper in the trenches of France. Occasionally, Karl can be seen attempting to take off into the air on a broomstick, prompting strange looks from his court and guards.
Though prone to actions considered insane by many, Karl is generally a clear-minded individual. During the few sanity tests he has been required to take by conspirating court members, Karl has been rated saner than those that conspired against him. Though believing in traditions and things of old, Karl also thinks ahead to the future, and promotes development, innovation, and change, while keeping ties to the old world.
Character History:
Karl Franz Fredrich Stahlwelt was born as Karl Welt to parents Stoph and Maria Welt, on January 14th, 1953, in the city of München, Böhmen, Deutschland. He grew up an avid learned of history, concentrating his studies on the time of the Holy Roman Empire, analyzing its strengths and weaknesses, how it could be improved, and ways to prevent its downfall and dissolution. Of course, he did all this in his free time, other studies consumed most of his time during his school years. When Karl was 19, he graduated from the Wilhelmsgymnasuim, excelling in the Abitur, and going on to studies in the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, majoring in history and teaching, and going on to teach at various universities, mainly the same university he graduated in.
In 1975, Karl met the woman of his dreams, Linda Brandt, while visiting the city of Bonn. Karl courted Linda for about a year, and they were married on June 18th, 1976, in Köln. On July 5th, 1977, their son was born, Christian Welt. He grew up to be an architect, and currently resides in the nation of Austria, in the city of Eisenstadt, capital of Burgenland. On a cold winter’s day, on December 13th, 1985, Linda was slain in the streets of München, by a stray BMW sliding into the sidewalk. Needless to say, this devastated Karl, caused him to go insane. Christian was sent to some relatives in Eisenstadt, before his father’s insanity claimed the son too, and Karl went into seclusion in his apartment in München. During this time, he spent every waking moment formulating the rise of the new Holy Roman Empire, his insanity drawing strength through his childhood interests. He still kept in touch with humanity though, mostly through young splinter parties, disenchanted from the government, looking for meaning in life, finding it in the stories of old that Karl wove for them, they formed the foundation of the Party of the Empire, who would later play a major part in world history.
In 1989, the Berlin Wall and Inner German Border fell, allowing East Germans to flood into West Germany, through West Berlin and major cities on the border of the two countries. This caused many problems for the economy of West Germany, who had to bear the burden of the poverty these immigrants brought with them, the Deutsche Einheit of 1990 didn’t help the problems of economy much at all. The relative suddenness of the unification of the two German states put an unbearable strain on the government, causing the general weakening of the state. In 1992, protests started sprouting up throughout Germany, mainly the western parts. The economy, government, everything went spiraling downward, unaided, and sometimes even helped by the governments of other European countries, mainly those NATO countries opposed to unification, specifically Great Britain and France.
In 1999, February 14th, to be exact, the Federal Republic of Germany ceased to exist as a nation. On that day, people from all walks of life, disgruntled with the poor conditions the nation had fallen into, worse even than that of Czechoslovakia and Hungary in places, spontaneously invaded the Reichstag. Though there was much loss of life caused by the guards of the Reichstag, the people got through, and mercilessly started the slaughter of politicians, government officials, secretaries, anybody in the building that couldn’t escape in time. News quickly spread throughout Berlin, and other buildings were invaded, including the Bellevue Palace, where President Roman Herzog was bunkered in, and subsequently killed in. Chancellor Gerhard Schröder was barely able to escape with his life, his wife, not so much.
This of course left a power vacuum in the country of Germany, that had to be filled somehow. Many parties tried to take power for themselves, but very few had been preparing for a government change for as long as the Party of the Empire had. For 14 years, since the 1996, no specific date can be attributed to the founding, the Party of the Empire had been preparing for this time, and now was their time. Most opposition parties were swept away due to their unpreparedness, but there was one party that was ready, ever since the 1950s. The Party of the Empire’s one enemy in the nation of Germany would probably have been the Neo-Nazi/Neo-Fascist party, whose headquarters had been moved to München in 1995, coincidentally where the Party of the Empire had been headquarteded, in secret of course. The Neo-Fascists, on the other hand, were operating in public, this would prove to be their downfall. On June 11th, 1999, the Neo-Fascists marched out, in all their numbers, leaders proudly in front of their columns, toward Berlin, in a symbolic show of power. That day, as they marched out, they were greeted with the 149 men of the Party of the Empire, their first public appearance. This appearance was accompanied by 149 machine guns, all going full speed slaughter, all but destroying the Neo-Fascist party main force. Other branches heard of this, some ran, some hid, some tried to fight back. But the Party of the Empire had gathered support, through fear and propaganda, and those branches that fought against the PotE were destroyed like their München counterpart. After the Neo-Fascist extermination, the PotE set up a temporary government at the Reichstag, in preparation for the coronation of the Emperor.
On December 31st, 1999, after much preparation, the coronation was finally held. At 11:00, the ceremony started, and the original member of the PotE, the one who wasn’t at the München extermination, was revealed, Karl Welt, who by this time was able to overcome much of his madness, and could actually be an effective person and leader. After introductions to a cheering crowd, both on-site, and through T.V. and radio, thanks to massive propaganda efforts, Karl Welt was coronated the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, taking on the title of Karl Franz Fredrich Stahlwelt, Heileges Römisches König und Kaiser von dem Deutschen Leute. As soon as that name was read off, the bells struck midnight, and the most spectacular fireworks display seen on the European continent was enjoyed by millions of people.
Later that day, the new government was set up, with 15 Lords, one for each Bundesland, and Counts for subdivisions of the Bundesländer, all drawn from the 149 others who formed the original party with Emperor Karl, the rest act as his court and advisors. The seat of the emperor was moved to a renovated Charlottenburg Palace. Reforms left and right were made, modernization, renovation, overhaul, they did it. Soon, the workforce was strong, the Deutsche Mark was back as one of the strongest currencies in the world, unemployment was down to almost NSDAP levels, the military was stronger than ever, and everything kept going up, until now. The country has stabilized, with little current growth, prompting König Karl Stahlwelt to bring the HRR to the 21st century, with many projects of military and civil research and development underway.
