Age: Twenty-eight
Gender: Male
Nationality: Danske (Danish)
Religion: Protestant (on paper anyway)
Political Party:Dansk Folkeparti (Danish People's Party)
Position/Rank: King and elected Prime Minister
Weight:fifty-five kilograms
Height:Six feet and two inches
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Appearance: Frederik Karl Christian XI retains youthful features. He maintains a well groomed appearance, with a rather fashionable thin moustache, and hair neatly trimmed and combed. If not for his boyish looks he might pass for an older generation with his sensible approach to his appearance.
He stands at six feet and two inches, making him moderately tall depending on ones standards of height, as by Danish standards he is only above average. He build is neither obese (due to a healthy lifestyle) nor malnourished. He face shows precious few lines of age, making his actual age a debate amongst skeptics.
Languages:Frederik is a linguist, he speaks highly fluent dansk, and is rather good at Svensk and Norsk, often being able to overcome the minor differences of pronounciation and even knowing the words were the languages differ. He has a good grasp of English as well, due to it being the lingua franca and its common appearance in media and the literary world.
Due to proximity, and the importance Deutschland has held for Denmark historically and throughout his life, he placed an importance on learning Standdeutsch. He has a passable fluency in that regard though not nearly to the standard of the three nordic languages he knows. He has been attempting to learn both Finnish and Dutch to questionable success.
Personality(What is your character like? How does he act? Atleast 2 well written paragraphs, Please.):
Frederik Karl Christian XI is a man of principal, a man of action, and maybe in consequence, a man of great self-doubt. He has a strong enough personality with enough confidence in his ability and personal charisma, to do the wrong things, for the right reasons, and yet that never helps him absolve the personal guilt he feels.
On numerous occassions Frederik Karl Christian XI has shown a darker side to his personality, often in the defense of people, ideals, or in the name of what he considers, positive ambitions for Danmark. As a consequence of his upbringing, he finds it incredibly difficult to relate to less financially priveleged, and certainly not for a lack of trying. He grew up in Frederiksberg, a town for the wealthy and the prestigious. He did not grow up like royalty, but he may as well been a the modern equivalent of a medieval lord.
He is also quite outspoken, often saying things he does not mean to say, simply out of honesty. Honesty is a quality of himself, that he views as his greatest weakness. He has great difficulty lieing, and great difficulty holding his tongue from saying rude things, despite that he has avoided many a faux pas. Many would say that quality contributes to his social ability not encumbers it, but they have not faced the social isolation it can bring.
Despite all his flaws and occassionally apathetic actions, he is deep down, a warm and kind man, who desperately wants the approval of those around him. He can often be seen with a grin, and not an unearnest one either. Perhaps he has inherited the danish custom of
taking pleasure and comfort in the simpler things, complexity tends to muddle things up, and he savors every moment he spends immersed in a simpler atmosphere, as opposed to the complex issues he faces regularly in his duties, which are taxing considering his two roles in office.
While it is not too unusual to hear him express discomfort in the cold winters of Denmark he tends to be bothered a lot more by non-temperate climates, as a danish summer he contends is the best time of the year, while a summer in the mediterranean or the southern
hemisphere he would rather not endure.
Frederik also tends to be self-conscious, any person close enough to see the daily rituals he dedicates to appearance might be humored by the vanity. To him, he justifies this as, both practical and a little bit of a bad habbit. Either way it makes him very photogenic, and naturally he turns a few eyes when he enters a room.
As one might expect of both his life choices and upbringing, he tends to be an impeccable dresser He is very fashionable in his appearance, often donning Hugo Boss suits, though he doesn't follow all the trends, or keep up with fashion movements by week, never the less
tends to look respectable regardless, and never wears the same suit a week, something he takes a considerable meisure of pride in.
Due to his ideolistic, he often butted heads (in some cases literally) with a lot of opposition. In his youth, he would regularly be involved in arguements with neo-nazis and some of the more extreme nationalists. While it was proven each time that he never started the fights, he none the less was jailed for time ranging from an hour to overnight. His parents were fortunately, considerate enough to bail him out of any police records. Otherwise he might have found his political career severely hampered, or his job prospects in general.
Despite his conflicts with the extreme nationalists, he is very much a nationalist himself. However, he has long made the destinction of refraining from applying nationality to race.
He above all believes in a better future for Denmark, Denmark over all in that sense. To him, the people who are his prime concern the danish, followed by the nords, followed by the Europeans, this is not atypical biased eurocentricism, but almost entirely relative to his own purpose and the location and geopolitical concerns of Denmark.
As far as outlook goes, he tends to erratically switch between pessimistic and optimistic, one might relate him to Rommel, when things were going well, he is optistimic, when things go bad he is horribly despirited.
Frederik's is fearful of being condemned as a cruel leader, but even worse then that, he is fearful of being condemned historically as an incompetent one. This fear defines to a great extent, how he runs his nation. He has been raised a protestant. However, despite his traditional protestant upbringing, he fails to follow the values given to him. He is often very lax over religious traditions, and sees religious holidays as a largely secular practice. This openminded to religion and the modern lifestyle however, is not too uncommon.
Politically he is a nationalist, he sees socialism and capitalism as two ideological principals to be blended in the ultimate goal of improving welfare of the populace. He for that reason has advocated a great deal
of policies for both, attempting to min/max the economic growth with the welfare and public services.
Frederik has rarely taken to intimacy, he has experienced but a few romantic relationships in his lifetime, and despite being approachable, and not falling over himself in the presence of a women, slow to warm to them as a potential romantic interest.
While he would be highly reluctant to admit it to the general populist, his views on killing and violence tend to be rather open minded. He sees both as a solution to numerous problems, despite what he sees to be inherent evils in the individual actions, he believes they can serve the greater good as a means to an end. This is also how he justifies aggressive realpolitik and expansionist policies, if wars have to be fought so a nation is big enough and large enough to defend its
sovereignty and muster a formidable public defense budget then so be it, a few thousand dead so a few million can preserve their culture and way of life from a future threat is a small concern.
He is as said before a very honorable person, indeed the greatest evil he can believe is one man deceiving others for, his own benefit, at the expense of many. When he lies he tries to make it atleast a partial truth, by all means, he prefers to leave out information or present information in a deliberately one sided way then to speak a direct untruth.
While he fears for his safety, he is willing to lay down his life, for things he believes in. If he had the choice to save his people, from destruction, at the cost of himself, or continue living without them, his dutiful nature would see him not hesitate to sacrifice himself.
He is ultimately a benevolent ruler, placing his people first, placing close friends first. Frederik might be best summarised, as a man prepared to put the benefit of a lot of people before himself. He is not entirely passive in his rule, he will infringe on people's rights, and he will have public defense risks monitered if he truly believes that Denmark would be better off through his interference.
His favorite hobbies include listening to classical music, eating out, and watching movies. He prefers the subtle intricacy of older films to the increasingly generic plotlines and cliche trends he identifies with
modern films. He is a huge fan of the directors F. W. Murnau, Carl Theodor Dreyer and Ingmar Bergman (indeed, Max von Sydow is a favorite actor of his for the roles he played in Bergman's films).
His most treasured possession is a small case containing the complete collections of Carl Theodor Dreyer and Ingmar Bergman.
His favorite color is not too surprisingly red, like
the dannebrog (danish flag).
When the stress of work builds up on him, he tends to relax to the previous comforts mentioned before, and smoke cigars and drink alcohol, though he is neither a nicotine addict or alcoholic, he has always excercised moderation. He does these both privately because of the social stigma against both potential vices.
He dislikes the season of Spring. While he respects the
way the enviroment lights up with the birth of new
life, the same new life releases multiple pollens that
he has a mild allergy too. He also dislikes judgemental
people, who place people into clear cut categories by using a generic and finnicky moral framework.
Frederik Karl Christian XI would die happy if he could only be remembered as a great leader of his people, as a good and benevolent leader.
Character History (What has your characters life been like? What has he/she appomplished?):
Frederik Karl Christian XI af Danmark, didn't grow up a king. He was not even in line for the throne. He was however born of the royal house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Despite him not being a likely inheritor of the throne his parents gave him the common names of Danish royalty.
His family was very well off, living in the prestigious and pricy town of Frederiksberg. He spent much of his young life away from home, whether it be education related, recreation related or just travelling around the world (mostly Europe). For that reason he rarely kept the same friends for a long time and was regularly meeting new people.
His parents were very strict on etiquette and learning good manners was emphasised throughout his youth. For this reason, he would look upon his fellow youths with envy when he saw them wielding the knife and fork in the wrong hand, or leaning with their elbow on the table. He had never had the luxury of getting away with such bad habbits.
His most frequent visits were places in Sweden and Norway. He probably spent almost as much time in Stockholm and Oslo as he did in København. His parents wished him to be well established amongst the Nordic Council, and for that reason he would visit, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Svalbard, Aland and even Estonia.
His studies and travels effectively ate into his childhood development. When not being tied down by such commitments he would read many books, being a voracious reader. He would also watch many movies, though histaste for the classics had not yet developed.
Upon completing his folkeskole, secondary and higher education, with a consistant history of being an overachiever, he enrolled at Københavns Universitet, though he was considering Aarhus Universitet.
Københavns Universitet is believed to be one of Europe's leading research institutions and is ranked as the leading unviersity in Scandinavia. He participated in two departments, the faculty of Social Sciences and the faculty of Humanities. By the time he entered
politics he had achieved recognition in the fields of,
social studies, nordic language and history.
Realizing that his education and royal relation lended itself to politics he entered the Dansk Folkeparti. As it represented his political leanings and was pro-monarchy. He did not agree with every position of the Dansk Folkeparti and has exerted influence to redirect
it on some issues.
During his political career he noticed that many of the claimants of the throne were elderly, he then theorized that, this left him in a position to claim the throne in the few short years, being the only young claimant. He thus worked to persuade numerous men to release their claim on the thrown.
While manipulative he did not use threats nor violence. Many of them were happy to meet the wishes of such a young and politically active individual, because earnestly, they were quite resigned to a peaceful end of their years with no desire to assume the multiple responsibilities of a monarch.
Due to his own charisma he became the representative of the Dansk Folkeparti. As he spent more time in the spotlight, being present for demonstrations and issues, and regularly providing well spoken commentary to news outlets, his popularity increased tremendously. Support rose for the dansk Folkeparti greatly.
Eventually his popularity had become so apparent that he decided to campaign for Prime Minister. He won by landslide, not without help from numerous donations and the considerable sums at his disposal.
Upon his position he gave priority to public relations but he was very passionate on some issues. Holding up the parliament multiple times to really push for issues he believed in. Such as prioritizing western
immigration to Denmark in opposition to Middle Eastern and Asian immigrants, and giving preference to skilled labor as opposed to indifference to the education of immigrants.
He refused to allow Denmark to change the Danish krone to the Euro. Both due to its cultural significance and because the Euro had shown to be falling in value with the lesser european countries economic burden forcing a unhealthy reliance on countries such as France, Germany and Italy.
It was early in his service as prime minister that the current monarch of danmark died, with his work to persuade the successors from their claim he was then next in line. The coronation caused some controversy, considering that he also held a significant political power.
He was busy the following months maintaining the demands of two theoretical heads of state. Also he had to make a lot of commitments to the public to diffuse any hostility or concerns they felt. Despite his
assurances, he did work to exploit the powers of his two roles. Effectively shifting much of the powers of Prime Minister and other government officials to the Monarch, so that it would likely never again be just a figurehead.
By the end of it, he had some considerable influence asa monarch, and with the continueing popularity he was likely to serve as Prime Minister for some years more. He has represented Denmark as a general secretary in the Nordic Council for years. He is currently not
married, but there has been extension speculations of courting from the public in regards to his meetings with women from the royal families of Sweden and Norway.
