Guesseppe sat his large, wooden desk, which sat in the middle of a room of a huge, complex bunker system below Roma. He looked up from his papers as one of his officers entered the room, closing the door behind him as he saluted, before saying “Sir, Operation Heroes, Operation Cold Wind, and Operation Balkans have begun. The tanks are rolling across the border as we speak.”
Guesseppe nodded, before standing up from his desk, saying “Very good” as he walked out of the room. He stepped through the complex bunker system, and up a set of stairs, stepping through a doorway as he walked along. Officers of his military were running around the bunker, constant updates for ‘Operation Heroes’ being delivered to them every step of the way. Guesseppe walked passed door after door, labeled ‘Army HQ’, ‘Navy HQ’, ‘Air Command HQ’, ‘IIA HQ’, ‘Giovanni Guard HQ’, ‘Guesseppe Youth HQ’, and numerous other Headquarters. After a few minutes of walking, he stepped through a large, steel bunker door, before continuing down a hallway, and through a doorway.
Applause could be heard as he walked down the final hallway. This hallway was far different than the others, and Guesseppe easily identified it. It was the main hallway of the houses of both the Legislature, and the House of Senate. Fine granite pillars lined the walls, and well polished Marble Floors reflected the light back onto the ceiling. A single soldier, dawning a black uniform which meant he was Giovanni Guard, stood against the wall in the middle of the hallway, a phone next to him. As he heard Guesseppe, he turned to the phone, and picked it up, speaking into it, before placing it back on the hook, and snapping to attention, Saluting Guesseppe.
As Guesseppe grew nearer and Nearer to the two large, Mahogany doors that stood as the entrance to the actual House meeting room, Guesseppe could hear the National Anthem of the Italian Empire begin to play. He continued to walk, and as he neared the door, two soldiers, one standing on each side of the doorway, snapped to attention, before reaching over, and opening both the doors for him.
The sounds of Applause and the National Anthem instantly grew louder, and as Guesseppe stepped through the doorway, a smile grew on his face, the twenty some members of the Senate and over 400 members of the Legislature all were standing and applauding their emperor as he entered the huge room. Members of the media took photos as Guesseppe shook the hands of the men that surrounded the carpet where He would walk to make his speech.
There were too many Legislatures for him to know all of them, but he knew all of the Senators, and when he shook their hands, he’d ask them about their families, and the sort. As he finally made his way down the path, the Men and Women of both the Senate and the Legislature took their seats. A large platform made of Marble sat in the front of the room, facing the seats where the legislature and the senate took their seats, forming a semi-circle. A large block of Green Granite sat atop the ‘platform’, and the symbol of the Italian Empire, forged in gold, was attached to the front of it.
On both sides of this block were sets of finely crafted Pews sitting behind a long block of green granite. Sitting in these seats were representatives of the Italian Military, including Generals and high ranking officers, and in addition, members of the ‘Party for Italian Progression’, commonly known as the Giovanni Party, which was now the only legal party in the Italian Empire.
Guesseppe stepped across the large granite platform, and stood behind a microphone which sat on a wooden mantel, attacked to the back of the large green block of granite with the Golden Italian Crest on it. As the applause slowly quieted down, He began to speak.
“Ladies and Gentlemen of the Senate, Of the House of Legislation, and the Citizens of our proud Empire, I speak to you this morning on a subject that is of vital importance to every citizen and politician in our empire, Every Member of Government, and our Empire as a whole. I speak to you tonight on the subject of the growing threat in the East. The self proclaimed Rulers of the World, the United Peoples Movement, and their nation.
It is no surprise to the Italian Government that the Italian People have already taken sides on this subject. We have seen protests for our empire to join this war grow in numbers every week. They have joined our Armed forces at a growing rate, and have prepared for a war they believe is coming. They also donated staggering numbers of material and resources to the Polish Government and their armed forces when they were in the fight, and now that Poland has Surrendered, shelter Polish Refugees in their homes until something can be figured out, or Poland is Liberated, so that they may return to their homes.
The Italian Military has stayed on constant guard, and has protected our boarders during the Peace Talks with the United Peoples Movement Government. They have served well, but they know that they will have to serve for some time, until our place in the world can be assured, and the UPM threat taken care of.
Last night, the Ambassador to the UPM delivered their Military Junta an ultimatum. Unless your forces withdraw from all of Europe, Including Poland, Finland, and all of the Balkans, the Italian Empire will cease all peace talks with them until they do so, and should they not reply, we will take said response as a negative response, and cease all diplomatic talks with them. They have not replied.
Therefore, this morning, at approximitly Two Thirty, our Ambassadors, and representatives at the peace talks, were flown home. They arrived back home at approximitly Six Fifteen this morning.
Approximitly Half an Hour ago, a Message was sent to the UPM Military Junta. They would retreat from all occupied territory in Europe, and ultimately, the Globe, or suffer consequences. They replied within ten minutes a short response of ‘We unfortunately must reject your Demand, but we wish for peace talks to resume once more’.
I stand here before you not to inform you of these messages, but to deliver you, and to inevitably to the world, the following Message. Five Minutes ago, Italian Military Forces began the Liberation of Europe, under Operation Heroes, Operation Cold Wind, and Operation Balkans. We are at war with the United Peoples Movement.”
There was a sudden roar of applause as the members of the senate and legislature rose, cheering as they heard the news that their nation was now at war, and at War with a nation that they knew they could beat, if the people tried their hardest. It would require every ounce of muscle to win, and the men of the Senate and Legislature knew this too well.
As the men and women quieted down, Guesseppe began again.
“This war will be a long war, and a bloody war. It will require the whole of the world to cooperate if we want to win, and secure a home for Peace and Cooperation in the world. This war will cause millions of causalities, including Millions of our own people, millions of children of the Italian Empire. Their death will not be in vain, and neither will the deaths of the millions of soldiers from other nations who will fight along side us, hand in hand, rifle to rifle.
We will drop five bombs for every one bomb of theirs. We will kill ten soldiers for every soldier we loose. We will have twenty five tanks for every tank of theirs. The Industrial Might and Opportunity of our Empire will come out and spread like a great bird, reaching from wing to wing, and destroying an enemy which has destroyed the hopes and dreams of millions of people when they rolled across their borders.
The Italian Empire will bring back what the UPM Hath taken away. We are the last beacon of Hope and Freedom in the world, and our flame shall never be extinguished. We shall not rest until the last rays of Evil that the UPM Emit are wiped from the slate of the world. We can not fail, for if we fail, the world will plunge into a thousand years of darkness. May the Gods of every religion help us along this journey of war, until we finally reach the land of Peace.
Tonight, I ask for each and every one of your prayers. No matter what Religion you are, I ask you to pray, for the soldiers marching off to war, to secure a home for Our Empire, for the freedom of the World, For Hope, and for Peace.”
Guesseppe ended his speech with that, and as the senate, the members of Legislature, and the members of the military on both sides of the Podium rose in applause, Copies of the speech were being sent all over the world. It was of no doubt that groups like the Polish Resistance were watching the speech, and both the German and American governments, as well as other nations, were too.
