J.T.'s plan landed at Washington Int'l earlier in the afternoon. After collected his luggage from the baggage track, he made his way outside into the shuttle area. Cars, taxis, buses, and other vehicles were moving about all over like robotics.
One vehicle stood out in particular. A black full sized van with a young man standing aside it, dressed in a woodland MARPAT uniform and hat. J.T. knew instantly that this was his ride. As he approached the vehicle, the young man, a Corporal, stood to attention and saluted J.T. "Good afternoon sir, welcome to the East Coast." J.T. put his luggage down to return the salute.
After putting their hands down the corporal opened the passenger door for J.T. and then promptly put his luggage in the rear of the van. Soon they were on their way to the home of the Vice President of the United States. J.T. didn't know much what it was about. He knew a war was on, and most likely it involved that. But why would someone so high up wish to speak to him over the war?
He put the thoughts to rest as they arrived at the front gate of the home. After showing the proper identification they were let in. The corporal drove to the front steps and let out J.T. who instructed the corporal to remain with the van and luggage, and be ready to pick him up when the meeting was over.
Approaching the steps up to the doors of the home, a Secret Service agent greeted J.T. and showed him inside. J.T. followed the agent up a flight of spiraling stairs to what he was told the home office of the Vice President. The agent went inside the office, requesting J.T. wait until he returned. He removed his garrison cap, as always, and fastened it in his belt as he looked around the area and waited for permission to enter.
