Operation: Fleur de lise [T]
December 1st
Start: 0100 Hours
Extraction By: 0300
Objective: Rescue Hostages
Location: Small Inuit settlement, Bathurst Island
Hostage: Three (3) RAR Officers
Extraction vehicle/aircraft: CH-148 Cyclone
Personnel: Sgt. Carter + Fire Team [FT] (MCpl. Phillips, MCpl Green, Cpl Stacey)
Sergeant Carter looked out the window of the CH-148 Cyclone as it sped through the Arctic. They were going deep into the Arctic, something he and his fire team [FT] hadn't done for a couple weeks. Sgt. Carter and his men were wearing white and grey camouflage suits and had C8A1's [Silenced] (Customized for the Arctic Conditions). Sgt. Carter was now updating his FT on the objectives.
"Alright, we're doing a quick attack on a small Inuit settlement, which is currently experiencing a fairly tough winter so that means it going to get cold fast, so be prepared. Our primary objective is to rescue three (3) hostages while our second objective is to get documents referring to the "enemy". I want this to be quick as we have a limited time and to not get into a firefight with the "enemy". We do not need any hostages wounded or killed."
Sgt. Carter looked at his watch then back to his men and confirmed in his head that they understood everything. "Two minutes until LZ" yelled the co-pilot of the helicopter. Sgt Carter turned on some of his gear and prepped himself. He turned on his headset and informed HQ they were one minute away from their LZ. He then got into the channel his FT would be using. "Dagger, this is Dagger One (1), come in. Over" Sgt. Carter said into his headset. "Dagger 1 this is Dagger, we are all set and ready. Out" replied Dagger.
The Co-Pilot yelled that they were all ready and were above the LZ, while one of the door gunners opened the door for the FT, while the helicopter hovered. Sgt. carter and his FT jumped out and waited at the start of a large hill. "Dagger, this is Dagger 1, we are on our way to Hornets Nest, can we have some info on the situation. Over." Sgt. Carter said into his Headset. "Dagger 1, this is Dagger, we can confirm that there are about Twenty (20) "enemy" targets and a heat source we guess are the hostages are at the eastern end of the settlement. There is a HMG in select buildings and a possible sniper watching the main road into the settlement. The area is hot and expect heavy fire if found. Out" replied Dagger.
Sgt. Carter's FT reached the top of a hill and Sgt. Carter looked into his Thermal Imaging Goggles and found Dagger had been correct, except for a patrol of 4 around the Northern side of the settlement. Sgt. carter signaled his FT to follow and they made their way to the Eastern side of the settlement. "Hold!" Sgt. carter whispered urgently as a patrol suddenly came up in front of them. "Engage silently!" whispered Sgt. carter and the patrol was soon neutralized.
The FT (Sgt. Carter's) found a house that looked to be heavily guarded on the inside. "Phillips! Cover us in that house, top floor, while Green, Stacey and I clear this house" whispered Sgt. carter over his headset. "Alright... what do I do if a mob turns up?" asked Phillips. "You know exactly what to do" said Sgt. carter with a grin. Phillips cleared his house and found a window while the rest of the FT found entries in the House with the hostages and fired off a couple Pepper Spray canisters into the house. Sgt. Carter waited a minute and jumped through the door and found the guards on the floor screaming. The FT quickly gagged them and tied them up then went to the hostages, informed them what to do, and quickly moved out.
"Phillips! Status!" said Sgt. Carter through the headset. "Sir we got a mob.. they heard the screaming and are armed to the teeth. We won't get to the Extraction Point with them on our tail, sir" replied MCpl Phillips. "Ok... Green! Throw smoke in that general direction and then follow up with some Pepper Spray Canisters!" said Sgt. Carter to Green. Green did what was asked and soon they could hear some muffled yells of pain as the pepper spray did its job. "Dagger 1, we need Extraction chopper here. We have had to scratch the point selected before and will need chopper here. We shall mark with red smoke. Over" said Sgt. Carter to Dagger. "This is Dagger, you have your Extraction Chopper. Out" replied Dagger.
Sgt Carter threw a red smoke grenade in a good area and waited for the extraction helicopter. He then went to a rock and watched as some of the "enemy" began to fire on Phillips, who had already taken five (5) of the mob. "Phillips pull out! Extraction Chopper here soon!" said Sgt. Carter to MCpl. Phillips. Just then Stacey spotted the helicopter and got the hostages ready, then inside first, as they were the priority. "This is Raven 1. We are have hostages strapped in and waiting for you. Out". The Co-Pilot of the helicopter said into Dagger 1's channel. "Ok! Move! Into the bird, NOW!" yelled Sgt. Carter to his FT. They all got on and layed back in the seats and watched as the door gunner let off a belt on the "enemy" as the Cyclone lifted off.
"Dagger, this is Dagger 1. We have hostages and in transport. Out" said Sgt. Carter as he turned off some of his gear and set his C8A1 in a rack above their heads (Stored safly when not needed in friendly area's). The Cyclone went off to the local CFB and unloaded hostages.
Sgt. Carter went into the HQ area and was congratulated on a training mission that was extremely successful, for under an hour. "This is your new personal best Carter!" said a fellow Sergeant as he began to eat a meal he was looking forward for what seemed to be forever. "Thanks" he said as he filled himself up.
This is one of the "easy" training missions that are currently going on. A simulated conflict is expected soon to test the RAR (another regiment will play enemy, possibly).
