We interrupt this program to inform you of the President's address. And, now,the President of the American Free State:
My fellow Free Americans, I feel hope. As I have walked and travelled throughout our nation for the past twenty years, I have seen a hope for a better world disappear from the hearts of my beloved countrymen, and I am disappointed. From the roots of the revolution to our final victory in 2003, there was a spirit in this nation, a spirit that unified us against all evil, all torments and tribunes. We have lost that. The revolution is over, and its result can be felt through every home, street, school, factory, and every square inch of ground in this hallowed land.
We took the puppet states of the South, the fascist governments, the oppressive overlords of our society and threw them away, eradicated them, built on top of them and finally gave birth to our own State, our own Government, and we became our Own lords. Much has changed since that time; we have lived a golden age of production and life that will not end this century, nor the next.
However, our lack of hope, our lack of spirit can only hurt us. And, it is hurting us. The man in the factory feels no meaning in his life. The wife and mother of many children sits in her ever shortening quiet time and wonders what will happen next. Soldiers question when the next war will come. Doctors do not feel as if they are healing. Police have lost their purpose to greed and corruption. I tell you, my fellow citizens, this lack of spirit, this lack of meaning and desire and purpose is blighting our country. The end of this pattern can only be the ruins from whence we came.
So, I say to you, now. Have hope. There is purpose. Twenty years ago, we united behind the call for freedom and unity and we achieved unbelievable results. Today, we can stand up and say "this shall not end!" We shall endure. Our nation can be great and will be great at our own hands. I call upon you, my countrymen, to join me in the building of this country that we all love. In five years, we can rejuvenate our cities. We can rebuild our broken coast, we can educate our children to build and develop. We can do anything. We have the power to change our nation, to make it better. So that at the end of the day we can stand upon the mountain-top with our hands outstretched and touch the face of God. The future is ours my friends and we are blessed in our action to decide it.
In five years we will live in a new nation.
Thank you, God bless you and God bless the spirit within us.
It was done. Teodosio could only take in his environment, soak in his own words, repeating his speech to himself as he sat down in his chair while the microphone turned off. The future was decided.
